This is a super a simple yet very useful Lightroom tool that lets you view your photos in black and white while editing.

This isn’t your typical preset — it’s more of a creative tool to help you see your luminance values better while you edit. It helps you visualize your photo differently. Hence the name. VISUAL HELPER .

Its most important feature is that can be toggled on and off. --- Without affecting the rest of your edit.

The idea is to use this as a supporting layer. You can turn it on adjust the luminance localy (with maksking) or globally and when you are done you can just click the seconbd rpeset for it to go away and all your previous edits remain in place

I like to call it dumb because it's so simple to replicate.
Just a mask over the entire image with Saturation set to -100 and the amount set to 200%. Save it as a preset and while you are there make a preset to toggle it off as well.

The best part?
You can make it yourself! Watch the tutorial to create your version and save money for more advanced tools available on my website like the All In One Grain or a pack of Color Response Curves!

INSTALLATION:

Copy the .xmp files to the specific folder:

Windows: C:Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\Settings

macOS: User Library>Application Support>Adobe>CameraRaw> Settings

You can make as many subfolders and organize the files however you see fit as Lightroom won't care and it will load everything in them
